The Small Town

The Small Town

Beyond the metropolises, industrial and major cities of America lies Small Town America. Long have we forgotten its beauty. You know a small town because time slowly moves through the day, stoplights discontinue to work after 10 PM and the synonymous blinking red stoplight starts to illuminate the four way stop after the hour.

See the small town is where the core of America’s families originated and stood strong throughout our country’s depressions and economic bliss. It’s our retreat to remind us of what once was and the dreams of what could be, if we really set our minds to it. It’s where church and God is deeply embedded to give us the strength to wipe away tears of pain and agony, so that we may pull ourselves up by the boot straps and fight to our very last breath.

Its where Friday Night Lights in the Fall entertains the roar of the crowds and the boom of the drums with a chorus of horns in reaction to the scoring of touchdowns. It’s where kids dream to be A-Rod on the diamond on Saturday afternoon. It’s where that last second buzzer shot noise sprung from your lungs saying…baaaaaiiinnnttttt! and you cheering because you made that last shot like MJ against the Cavaliers and began your dreams of being the next Lebron James.

Funny thing is, its where I buy my Samoas® – Caramel deLites™ outside of Wal-Mart from the Girl Scouts of America, lol. Boy do they drive a hard bargain. As for the Boy Scouts…well I am still a little T-off because I got 2nd Place in the wooden car races against Andrew Lockheart, lol. I still say he put lead in the nose of his car.

I have to show love to the small town because it’s where I retreated, when I lost everything after losing my job and had to rebuild from the ground up. With the love of my family supporting me through every step and my grandmother reminding me that God has a bigger plan ahead and stay the course no matter what the odds. I have endure those who negated me, I have persevered through trials and am now experiencing His tribulations, I have seen what I am to become as a Man, Father, and Leader. God has used me to help others and to deliver his word to those who need the reassurance that He will provide if they just believe. So to those who are going through some pain and hardship, find your small town or a place to reconnect to your virtues and fight. He has a plan for you and your family. To God Be The Glory…Make a blessed and terrific day.
